Getting help
Who does Por Legal serve?
We mainly serve new immigrants and low-income individuals and families, including underserved communities. Most of our clients speak Chinese or Spanish.
How do I get help?
Come to our office at 17800 Castleton St Ste 230, City of Industry, CA 91748 during office hours: Tuesday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday, 10 AM to 3 PM (Pacific Time). We are closed on Sunday and Monday. We serve clients in person only, not by phone or online. See visiting information.
What languages do you speak?
We provide service in English, Spanish and Chinese.
What should I bring when I visit?
Please bring a photo ID and any letters or notices you have received from USCIS or the immigration court. If you have them, also bring your receipt numbers, your A-Number and copies of any applications you have filed. If you need a fee waiver, bring proof of your income or public benefits. If you are not sure, bring what you have.
Cost and fee waivers
Do your services cost anything?
Our services are free or low-cost, and if you cannot pay, our fees may be reduced or waived. Government filing fees, such as USCIS fees, are separate.
Can you help me get a fee waiver?
Yes. If you have a low income, we can help you request a fee waiver from USCIS (Form I-912) or, for appeals and motions, from the immigration court or the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) with Form EOIR-26A. Not every form can be waived, so we will check your case first. Please bring proof of your income or public benefits.
Your case
Can you check my case status?
Yes. Our staff check your case status by hand with USCIS and the immigration court, and explain any change. We do not offer automatic tracking. You can also check it yourself: for USCIS cases, enter your 13-character receipt number on USCIS Case Status Online; for immigration court cases, enter your A-Number and nationality on EOIR’s Automated Case Information portal. Our case status page explains both.
Can you guarantee the result of my case?
No. No one can honestly guarantee the outcome of an immigration case. We will explain your situation clearly and honestly, and help you understand your options.
Is the information on this website legal advice?
No. It is general information only. Every situation is different, so please visit our office to discuss your case.
